Terry was born on June 11, 1940 in Indiana. Soon after, his parents returned to the Charlotte area. He was the eldest son of Thomas Fulton Howard and Anne Harkey Howard. He graduated from Central High School, Class of 1958. He started his career as a machinist for Terrell Machine Company on August 18, 1958. Terrell was later purchased by Comer Industries and Terry retired on July 20, 2002 after 47 years as an Industrial Engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, little brother Thomas Roger Howard and two adult grandchildren, Erica Kay Payne and Michael Brandon Davis.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of almost nine years, Frances Hatley Howard, son Roger Howard (Suzi), daughter Kimberly Davis (Wade), daughter Melanie Howard, stepson Tim Singleton (Brandy), grandson Jake Howard (Sarah), granddaughter Morgan Rick and a host of cousins and friends.
In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish, watch NASCAR and go to the beach. In his later years, he gave up hunting and fishing and enjoyed the beach more and riding in his little royal blue MGB convertible, “Terry’s Little Darlin”. He loved spending time with his family and friends and laughing and having fun. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was very devoted to caring for his mother after the passing of his father. He also loved kitty cats, Fat Susie and Buster who have already crossed the Rainbow Bridge and were waiting for him. Most of all, he loved the Lord, his church and reading his Bible.
He will be remembered as a fun loving man with a heart full of love and compassion for others. He had a beautiful smile, dimples and twinkling eyes that would light up a room when he walked in. His smile stole my heart.
