Teresa Terry Lee Dover Carpenter

The daughter of Fred Mark Dover and Martha Jean Winslow Dover of Charlotte, Teresa, better known as Terry to all who knew her, was born on May 1, 1956. She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Charles, their two children, Michael and Katie, and beloved dachshund Maycee. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred, and older brother, Mark, and is also survived by her mother, Jean, and two younger brothers and their families, comprised of Kent Dover and wife Julie, Victor Dover and wife Mari Chael, and their children Thomas and Lee.

Terry grew up and spent most of her life in Charlotte, and graduated from Independence High School in 1974. She was an active and outgoing person, always doing more for others than she’d ever imagine doing for herself. She was a true “life-helper”, assisting her family and friends with everything she could, each and every day. She was an avid animal lover that also enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, and anything else that involved being outside under the sun. She did everything while wearing her trademark smile.

Terry was the most caring and wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She truly was an angel on Earth that returned home to Heaven and left a hole in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. That hole will be filled by the compassion and love that Terry instilled in each heart she touched. Her unwavering spirit will be carried on in the daily lives of all her family and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 30 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, October 31 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Road. Interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Avenue.
