Born July 9, 1960 in Marion, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Peggy Wright and Major Ayers. Following graduation from McDowell High School, Tammy furthered her education at Central Piedmont Community College where she earned a degree in paralegal studies. She worked as an accomplished paralegal for over twenty years.
Tammy lived a vibrant life full of family, friends, music, cooking, traveling, gardening, and fellowship. She made time for who and what she loved.
She spent fifteen loving years with her soulmate, David Roman, where they enjoyed traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with their beloved dog, Ruby. They were truly best friends.
She also had a close relationship with her mother, who spent the last ten years living with Tammy. They made a great team in the kitchen and together they mastered every recipe in all the latest cookbooks.
She was immensely proud of her sons and granddaughters. She loved her sons with every fiber of her being and she was incredibly proud of them. She was proud of them for many things: being successful in their careers, being devoted husbands, and loving sons, but she was most proud of them for being amazing fathers to their children.
Known to her granddaughters as “Yaya,” she took this role very seriously, and carved out quality time with her grandchildren and found special activities to do with each one of them. Arts and crafts, playing inside or outside, baking cookies at Christmas, decorating Easter eggs, going to the park, on walks, and taking trips were just some of the ways that she spent time with her grandchildren. She never missed any milestone in the lives of her children or grandchildren, and she loved celebrating them. She was so proud of her sons and grandchildren.
Keeping up with friends she knew from different stages of her life was important to her, and she made time to go to dinners, concerts, on girls trips, or even just to send a sincere card or text to let them know she was thinking about them.
She knew Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and her faith was important to her. She visited various local churches and found comfort reading her Bible and praying. She relied on her faith.
Tammy is survived by her partner, David Roman, and her sons: Tyrell Jason Siler (Jill) of Harrisburg and Justin Antonio Siler (Nereyda) of Cornelius; granddaughters: Jayla Abigail Siler, Sadie Grace Siler, and Harper Ann Siler. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is also survived by her parents.
A celebration of life will be held at McEwen Pineville Chapel located at 10500 Park Road Charlotte, North Carolina 28210 on Sunday, May 16, at 7:00 pm.
