She was born June 4, 1933 in Westfield, New Jersey; the daughter of the late Frank Irving and Margaret Norene MacCallum Clark. She was preceded in death by her sister Jean Norene Clark Beatty and brother Robert Franklyn Clark.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the first graduating class of East Mecklenburg High School of Charlotte in 1951, and attended Limestone college in Spartanburg, SC before marrying Donald A. Thomas on May 16, 1953. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and four children.
Suzanne or "Sue", as she was affectionately called by many, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the ultimate homemaker and took great pride in her family. She loved sewing, being outside working in the yard, and had an affinity for flowers, plants, and birds, but most of all loved spending time with her family. Later in life Suzanne went to work for Trammell-Crow Company (commercial property management group at Woodlawn Green) where she made many friends.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her devoted husband Donald A. Thomas, Sr.; children: Don Thomas, Jr. and wife Debbie of Wallace, NC; Chuck Thomas of Gastonia, NC; Randy Thomas, Sr. of Fort Mill, SC; Sherri Satterfield and husband Rick of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren: Suzi Anderson (Greg) of Chicago, IL; Brian Thomas of Poquoson, VA; Matt Eaker of Pineville, NC; Randy Thomas, Jr.; Maigen Skjelstad (Garrett) of Tigard, OR; Chandler Thomas and Kelsey Thomas of Charlotte, NC; Amy Thomas of Clayton, NC; Anne Satterfield and Clark Satterfield of Fort Mill, SC. Additionally, three great grandchildren: Sloane, Reese, and Quinn Anderson all of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thomas was an active member of Unity Presbyterian Church of Fort Mill, SC, where she shared fellowship with many friends. Associate Pastor, Jeannie Bickett will conduct the services.
The family would like to thank in-home caregivers: Rebecca Kneram, Lisa Enfinger, Peggy Philbeck,, Gwen Bussey, and Agapé Hospice; and all of whom helped comfort Suzanne and the family during her decline in health due to Alzheimer's.
A service to celebrate Suzanne's life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at McEwen Funeral Home at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to Unity Presbyterian Church (USA), 303 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.
