Susan Gail Lindsay

Susan was born in Queens NY, grew up in Detroit Michigan and attended Eastern Michigan University where she received an MA in Special Education. She taught Special Education for 11 years, served on the Ypsilanti Town Council as well as volunteering for the Special Olympics.

She moved to Charlotte in 1981 and became involved with many organizations including Women Business Owners, Charlotte Women’s Political Caucus, 3 terms as President of Mecklenburg County Democratic Women, and a candidate for County Commission in 1986. She started her own company in 1985 and has been active most recently in the Charlotte East Community Partners, sometimes called the unofficial mayor of East Charlotte.

Susan has dedicated much of her life helping people at all levels organize and work together to resolve issues and improve outcomes.

Susan is survived by her brother Steven and his family, Wendy, children Ashley, Austin and Angela and grandchildren Maddy and Alaya.

There will be a celebration of Susan’s life at The Grove Presbyterian Church, 5735 E W.T. Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC, Saturday June 2 at 3:00pm.
