Sue Harrison Bush

Sue Harrison Bush, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Sue Harrison, age 94, was born July 23, 1928, in Caldwell County, North Carolina, the daughter of Steve and Maude Clark Harrison.

Her husband of 54 years, William Arthur Bush, preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by three children, Billie Sue Powell, Milton Bush, and Teresa Kadlec (Bob); six grandchildren, Curry Powell, Rebekah Powell, William Kadlec, Abigail Kadlec, Katie Bush, and Tabitha Bush; also with two great-grandchildren, Lillian Locklear and Isabella Caruso.

While raising a family, Sue owned and operated Cottage of Hair Fashion in South Charlotte. Later she joined her husband as business manager of Bush Limousine, which was founded in 1958 as the first limousine service associated with Charlotte Douglas Airport. She has been a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in Charlotte since 1955. She taught Sunday School for many years and was a participant in church functions as long as her health permitted.

Sue had a very inquisitive mind and never stopped wanting to learn. She loved music, both as an excellent pianist and attending musical performances and theater. Sharing her father's love of storytelling and family history, she took writing classes and has left a written legacy for her offsprings.

Her greatest passion was her children and her greatest delight was her grandchildren. Whether sewing dance and majorette outfits or cheering through countless ballgames and performances, her heart was in every event. She has forever remained the strikingly beautiful Granite Falls High School May Queen and the peppy GFHS cheerleader in the lives of her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at McEwen Funeral Home, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
