Born May 3, 1925 in Charlotte, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Harry and Keziah Bangle. She graduated from Central High School as well as Queens College. She married John B. Smith who passed away in 1997.
Mrs. Smith is survived by three children, Sally Dickson, Jay Smith and Eric Smith; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Harriet Barnhardt and Margaret Saunders.
Sarah was a member of Chi Omega. She loved gardening, tennis and golf and spent many years volunteering in her garden club and Friendship Trays. She was also a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church of which her father was a founding member.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Smith’s life will be held from the graveside in Sharon Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2nd with the Reverend Von Clemans officiating.
