

Sarah Lee Fowler Bradfield, 94, of Charlotte, and formerly of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 with her granddaughter by her side. She was born October 10, 1919 in her grandparents' farm house in Spartanburg County, S.C., to Mary Victoria Reid Fowler and Grover Parsons Fowler.
During World War II, she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Sarah graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory and worked as a bookkeeper for Charlotte OBGYN. She was an active member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church for over 60 years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bradfield was preceded in death by her husband, John Warren Bradfield, Jr.; daughter, Victoria Bradfield Winchester; sister, Minnie Lyerly; and brother, Grover P. Fowler, Jr.
Mrs. Bradfield is survived by her son, John Warren Bradfield and special friend, Pam Cook of Charlotte; granddaughter, Sarah Winchester Sikes and husband Shannon and their children, Jeremy, Madison, Nicholas and Logan Sikes of Rock Hill, S.C.; and sister, Janie Fowler Walpole and her children, Allison and Jeffrey Walpole of Charlotte.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Linda Couch and Michael Couch; Meg and Gloria Giddings; and Bud and Anne Fitzsimmons. The family also appreciates the loving care given to Mrs. Bradfield by The Carriage Club and Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 28 at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 1510 E. 7th St., Charlotte. Interment will take place in the church memorial garden. A reception will follow the service in the parish hall of the church.
