Sandra Louise Heyden White

Sandra Heyden White, “Sandy”, 79, of Charlotte, passed on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster. She was born on November 10, 1937 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Van Waldermar and Margaret Lancour Heyden. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all and will be missed dearly.

Sandy graduated from Cheshire High School in Cheshire, CT and attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. She moved to North Carolina in 1964 where she and her late husband of 48 years, Robert Lewis White, raised their four children together. Sandy was an avid tennis player and member of the Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club. She was a “soccer mom” who was always cheering on her South Meck Sabres and Carolina Panthers. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and back home up North to spend time with her sisters and spent her summers at the beach with her children and their families. She was a breast cancer survivor who never missed an opportunity to attend the Charlotte Breast Cancer walk every year.

Sandy leaves behind her four children, Kimberly White Lathe of Charlotte, NC, Robert Scott White of Memphis, TN, Jeffrey Spencer White of Charlotte, NC and Eric Jon White of Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children; her four siblings, Margot Heyden Conley and husband Jack of Osterville, MA, Judith Heyden Fenney and husband Nick of Highland Beach, FL, Jon Lancour Heyden and wife Janice of Moultonboro, NH, and Joanna Heyden Berryman of Wallingford, CT, as well as many other loving extended family members and friends.

A service to remember and celebrate the life of Sandy will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Andrew's Methodist Church, 1901 Archdale Dr. Charlotte, NC 28210. The family will receive visitors from 1:00PM-2:00PM followed by the Celebration of Life service from 2:00PM-3:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that all memorial contributions be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
