Samuel Martin Heuertz

Mr. Heuertz, age 80, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Born April 27, 1935 in Wilber, NE, he was the son of the late Boyd and Vivian Petty. Mr. Heuertz served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 38 years of service. Mr. Heuertz was an instructor at CPCC for 15 years. He was a member and former deacon of Northside Baptist Church. Mr. Heuertz was a Ham operator

The family will receive friends 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM Sunday at Northside Baptist Church. The service to celebrate the life of Samuel Martin Heuertz will immediately follow at 2:30 PM with Rev. Barry Shearer officiating. Interment will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jennie; son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Debra Heuertz of Charlotte; granddaughter and husband, Drs. Samantha and Brian Moore of Chapel Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and David Jenkins; brother, Bobby Petty; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Heuertz was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Tish Petty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28262.
