Mrs. Yates was born on October 24, 1937 in Asheboro, NC to Farris and Mary Pierce.
Mrs. Yates graduated from Farmer-Denton High School in 1956 and married James A. Yates on June 29, 1956. From there, they both were hired by airlines – James by Delta and Ruth by Pan Am. They moved to Chicago, IL and stayed until 1961 when they returned to Charlotte, NC.
They were both active members of Shady Brook Baptist Church in Charlotte.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed tremendously.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and loving husband.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Pamela Striano (RJ); son, Christopher Yates (Karen); brother, Ronald Pierce (Nettie); five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the Yates family from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive in Charlotte. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm following the visitation in the Paul Helton Hall at the funeral home. Tom Ravan, Senior Pastor at Shady Brook Baptist Church, is to officiate. The interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's name to Shady Brook Baptist Church of the Alzheimer's Association.
