Dear old friend, Roy, a gentle giant.
So many memories of Roy and his beautiful family.  Had a smile  that was very contagious. Always available to give a helping hand.
But, there was never a doubt that his family and his religious beliefs, always were 1st. in his life.
He had a very special place in our hearts.

Roy Oliver! The Man, The Legend!
I met Roy in the late 70’s when we both worked at Kroger-Savon in Charlotte. Roy was a straight shooter. You never had any doubt where he stood on any topic. He did not abide any BSers. 
I always admired that about him.  He was a Man of Faith, Conviction and unwavering Loyalty! 
I always found him to be a caring and generous person, a loving spouse and father and a friend you could always count on.  I remember going into stores with him, John Hardy, and his good friend, Don Wines. The store associates would call Don, John and I by our first names, but Roy was always called Mr. Oliver. 
A great Man who will be missed! Say Hi to Bubbles, Roy. I know you’re happy being reunited with her and Linda! 
My condolences to Larry, Mary Leigh, Scott and their families. 

Big Roy was such a good man and a great friend! My young daughter noted that Big Roy was the boss on everybody” because he was so tall.  Always a gentleman and a hero for the unconditional love he showed  Linda and his wife whom he called “Bubbles”. Rest In Peace my good friend!!

As an original resident of Fairway Downs along with Roy, Alice, and Linda, I want to express my appreciation of the friendship and caring I experienced from the Olivers over those years. The burdens they may have been carrying at any time never affected the smile and caring interest they displayed toward me each opportunity. Both Roy and Alice were that way and Roy remained so when he and Linda carried on without Alice. My early relationship with the Olivers was aided because dear friends of my wife and I, the Carawans, were old friends of the Olivers from careers at Kroger.  Additionally, Don and Arlene Wines, the neighbors next door, also was a comanager along with Roy and Leland at Kroger. The Wines were also caring friends over their time as neighbors.  Roy, who we know had  the love and support of his children, always maintained that tradition in my eyes.


Seth and I are so very sorry to hear of Roy's passing.  He, Alice, and Linda were wonderful neighbors.

     Hank and I are so sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing. Your Mom, Linda, and your Dad were the best neighbors. Roy and Hank were the BEST of friends. They shared many conversations sitting in our garage thruout the day!

Uncle Roy was a wonderful person and a real Mans Man.  He reminded me of the old EF Hutton commercials... when he talked, everybody listened.  I was able to spend a few weeks vacationing with the Oliver Family and had  nothing but fabulous times.  One time at topsail beach we were on the deck of our beach house and his brother Don brought out his brand new golf clubs and was showing them off.   Uncle Roy asked to look at his 7 iron and he began to swing it, grounding it into the deck. Over and over he did it and Don was wincing and fidgeting and quietly having a breakdown watching his older brother proclaim ‘that won’t hurt this club’ as he smacked that 7 iron into that wooden deck over and over. Well when he finally handed Don his club back they were whisked away into the house to be cleaned and protected and Roy looked at Mike Young and me and just let out a big hearty  laugh. That was a great memory.  What a great guy.
