Roy Lee McArn, 91, of Charlotte NC passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020. He was born on June 8, 1929 to the late Will Thomas and Lela Mae McArn. Roy graduated from Long Creek High School in Mecklenburg County.
Roy McArn worked as a flooring installer with Bost Building & Equipment, until he opened a partnership with the late Carl Gayle, named Quality Flooring Covering. In January of 1970 he started his own business named US Flooring Company. As the owner and installer he installed flooring and carpet in many homes in south Charlotte, for John Thomasson Construction Company. In the years following he began working with commercial retailers (Cato Corporation & Rack Room shoes) traveling over 23 states. He loved to work and travel so this combined two of his most loved things.
To his family and friends that knew him best he was nicknamed “Chunk”, and he was always full of life. He always had a handkerchief in his pocket and the last couple of years he always kept 2 or 3 just out of habit. He always had a helping hand to lend to anyone in need. He loved Hershey kisses and that was the only thing he had a hard time sharing. Sometimes he was teased that he looked like a chipmunk with several chocolate kisses in each cheek. He never wanted many materials things in life but the one thing he would never refuse were his chocolate kisses. I hope all of his family and friends will take a moment and remember something funny about him. Laugh and then keep and cherish those thoughts so he will never be forgotten.
To all our relatives and close friends whom we love cherish and miss very much. During this time of Covid 19 it would be unacceptable to have a funeral open to everyone. We wish to have a small private service with the immediate family only. We hope all of you will understand this wish and will stay away for yours and our safety.

If you wish to forego sending flowers you could make a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 7600 Little Ave Charlotte, NC 28226. These people are angels in our midst. The care, attention, love, respect and support that they gave our father was overwhelming. Know that we love you and feel the love that you had for our father. Thank you.
Roy is survived by wife, Joyce L McArn; daughters Karen M Baucom & Robin L McArn; son Roy (Chip) Lee McArn Jr.; grandchildren William, Daniel, Jennifer, Nathaniel & Matthew; 12 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
A Graveside service will take place at Sharon Memorial Park on Monday, September 21, 2020.
