Rocky was family oriented, was loved by everyone, and had a heart of gold. His children could not have asked for a better father. He was always there when needed, always showed up, and never met a stranger. Known by those that loved him as, “the animal whisperer,” Rocky had a fantastic gift of communicating with both people and animals.
Rocky enjoyed working on cars and dirt bikes. He also enjoyed fishing. Rocky’s happy spot was being outside near water or sitting around a campfire. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Beckley, West Virginia.
Rocky was preceded in death by his daughter, Rose Smith; father, Buster Smith; and paternal grandparents, Harry and Mary Elizabeth Smith.
He is survived by wife, Jennifer "Shay" Hagans; five children, Anthony Wayne Smith (Zariah) of Clearwater, Florida, Roxy Crabtree, Kayla Crabtree, and Carla Smith, all of Dallas, North Carolina, and Christian Smith of Maiden, North Carolina; mother, Mary Smith; siblings, Mary "Liz" Smith (Eliseo) and Shane Smith (Tracy); niece, Cheyanne Smith; nephews, Alex Smith, Matthew Smith, Steel Smith, Dalton Hagans, and Jacob Hagans; and life long friend, Basilio Guinea.
