Robert Fred Witherspoon

Robert Fred Witherspoon, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, after reaching the age of 81 years old. He died peacefully at Brookdale Weddington Park Assisted Living with his beloved wife, Pearl and family by his side.

Robert was born on February, 11, 1939, in Peachland, North Carolina and was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was a lifelong member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church who dedicated many years of his life to helping others and in service of his Christian faith.

He graduated from Wingate College where he met the love of his life, Pearl. They were blissfully married for 58 years.

Robert worked at T.C. Conrad CPA Firm and later spent 43 years at Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates until his retirement in 2008. During this time he was inducted into the National Medical Society.

Robert was a proud member of the National Guard and served honorably for his country.

When he was younger, he particularly enjoyed skating and skiing. Later on in life, he grew a love for coin collecting and weekly breakfasts with his Sunday school class.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Callie Witherspoon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pearl; their daughter, Jan and her husband, Ray; and their son, Todd and his wife, Linda. He was a proud grandfather to Logan and his wife KD, Drew, and Hannah; and was a dear brother to Ben and his wife, Bobbie and to Charlie and his wife, Gaenel.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 2:00pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
