Robert "Bob" Leroy Swartz

Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just seven weeks prior. Those last seven weeks were some of his happiest in years. He reconnected with people that he had not seen in years. His children and grandchildren from all over came to visit during this time and even shared in the card games that he enjoyed playing.

Bob was born and raised in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Samuel Vaughn Swartz and Arvilla Bernadine Johns Swartz.

He was the youngest of 14 children, Bob was a diehard Buckeye Football fan. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army to pursue a career in Data Processing where he spent most of his time working for the Pentagon.

After his time in the Army, Bob went on to further his education; graduating from Purdue University with his Master's Degree. Bob retired after a successful career in management with GTE.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kiser Swartz; children, Robert Swartz III, Chris Swartz (Tina), Michelle Rupp (Michael), Richard Swartz (Vicki), and Kyle Swartz (Kaitlyn); stepchildren, Tamea Daniels, Angela Sides (Paul), Deana Pebler (Charles); seventeen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Grimes and Marilyn Harris; and one brother Kenneth Swartz.

He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel Vaughn Swartz and Arvilla Bernadine Johns Swartz; brothers and sisters, Harold Swartz, James Swarts, Clifford Swartz, Clara Tharp, Florence Owens, Boyd Swartz, Cloyd Swartz, Wilda Grimes, Patricia Smith, and Harrison Swartz. He was also predeceased by his wife of 25 years, Debra Cronk Swartz.

Memorials can be made in Bob's honor to Novant Hospice or Hopewell Baptist Church of Monroe, North Carolina.

A visitation for Bob will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
