Robert Lee Rinell

Robert Lee Rinell was born November 30, 1936 to Amelia Rinell in Duluth, MN. He married Marilyn Craven on February 7th, 1959. They lived in Hibbing, MN; Virginia, MN; Babbitt, MN and Duluth, MN. They were members of St. Pius IX Catholic Church in Babbitt and St. Raphaels Catholic Church in Duluth. Bob served in the USMC from 1954 to 1956. He worked for the MN State Highway Department, Reserve Mining and the Minnesota Air National Guard (1973-1996).

In 2006 Bob and Marilyn left Minnesota and moved to Charlotte, NC. They were members of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, and Bob belonged to American Legion Post 235.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Olson) Rinell (Andrew) of Indian Land, SC; his son Eric Rinell (Shiloh Nun) of Minnesota; six grandchildren (1 of whom is a US Marine—MSgt Nicholas Rinell), eight great-grandchildren; Mary Bryant who was very special to him, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David in 1953, his mother Amelia in 1990, his wife Marilyn in 2016 and son Lloyd in 2021.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to: The American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior, Marine Corps League, and the USO—United Service Organizations.

Services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Daily Mass Chapel, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28277 with the visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Immediately afterwards, there will be a committal service at 1:00 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
