Robert "Bob" Lewis McNeill, 92 of Charlotte, entered into his heavenly rest on February 22, 2024 while under the care of Novant Hospice. Bob was born March 30, 1931 to the late Robert T. McNeill and Letha Cartrette Swan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Orlean Pate McNeill; a son, Walter McIver McNeill; step-father, Jessie Walter Swan; and two brothers, James "Jim" McNeill, and Kenneth "Butch" McNeill.
Bob served his country in the Navy and Air Force for 20 years. In 1971 he received an associate degree in HVAC from CPCC. He started McNeill Service and took care of many families for 30 years. Bob became a Freemason in 1961 and was an active member of the Westgate Masonic Lodge. He was a man who walked every day as the Bible taught. He took care of widows and orphans, provided for his family, and selflessly cared for so many people over his lifetime. Bob loved to spend time with his family, tinker around his house, and fish as often as possible.
Those left to cherish his memories are his brothers, George McNeill of Aberdeen and Richard McNeill of Carthage; son, William McNeill (Janice) of Charlotte; daughters Rene’ Nesbit (Gary) of Dallas and Dee Dee Ford (Byron) of Concord. He had 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Bob; special friends and neighbors who looked after him; and his best fishing buddy, Bill Wright.
Visitation 3:00 until 6:00 pm, Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Funeral service 1:00 pm Monday, February 26, 2024 in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial in the Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
