A son of the late John G. Hurt and Enola Thornburg Hurt, Bob was born February 6, 1932 in Charlotte. He was a graduate of Central High School in Charlotte and attended The Citadel. Mr. Hurt served in the U.S. Army for several years and was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Hurt was Area Sales Manager for Motorola Communications and retired after thirty years. He was a charter member of Incarnation Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad, especially with his family. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and spending time with friends. He will be remembered for his gregarious personality and thoughtfulness of the needs of others.
His family includes three children, Lisa Hurt of Charlotte, Scott Hurt (Angela) of Siler City, and Craig Hurt (Kim) of Weddington; four grandchildren, Kristyn, Brittany, Chelsea and MacKenzie Hurt; his brother, Tom Hurt (Kay) of Charlotte; and his dear friend and companion, Peggy Axley of Statesville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Simpson Hurt.
A service to celebrate Mr. Hurt’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31st in Harry & Bryant’s Chapel in the Oaks, 500 Providence Road. His family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Private interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park.
