Robert Singleton Farmer, Senior passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House-Huntersville after a short illness. Robert was born to Henry and Josephine Farmer on August 1, 1928 in Washington, DC. He graduated from Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia in 1946 and was one credit shy of a degree from George Washington University. Robert served his country as a mechanic in the US Air Force. After serving his country, Robert used his mechanical genius in varied occupations including car wash owner/operator, rental property owner/manager, and small airport operator/licensed mechanic. Robert’s hobbies and interests included flying small airplanes, antique cars, boating, traveling and Big Band Music. His favorite entertainer was Frank Sinatra.
Robert is survived by his two sons - Rob Farmer of Baltimore, MD, Allen Farmer and wife Susan of Charlotte, NC, and two grandchildren – Aaron and Olivia Farmer of Charlotte, NC. Robert was pre-deceased by his brother, Henry Farmer of Florida, and Robert’s long-time companion, Catherine Gordon of Edgewater, MD.
Services will be Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 1 pm at University City UMC in the Chapel. Visitation with family and friends will immediately follow the service. Memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Levine & Dickson Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
