Robert Jay Eaton

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 507 S. Tryon St., Charlotte, with The Reverend Thomas McDonnell , celebrant. Further services and interment will be held at a later date in Gowanda, NY.

Mr. Eaton was born July 30, 1936 in Gowanda, NY, the son of the late Ward Frederick Eaton and Frances Leilani Jay Eaton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judith and brother, William. Mr. Eaton attended Alfred State Tech and earned a BA from the University of Buffalo, NY. He retired from National Gypsum with over thirty years of service and later held a two-year term as President of the National Gypsum Retirees Group. Mr. Eaton was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Charlotte. He was a former member of the City of Charlotte Zoning Board and served as Treasurer of the Ravenwood Neighborhood Watch Committee.

Mr. Eaton is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Suzanne M. Eaton; children, Shelly Nelms (David) of Monroe, NC, Cynthia Eaton of Charlotte, NC, Pam Eaton of Mint Hill, NC, Robert Eaton, Jr. (Suzy) of Charlotte, Edward Eaton of Charlotte, Jacquie Stevens (John) of Mint Hill, and Michael Eaton (Bekah) of Charlotte; and by thirteen loving grandchildren.
