Mr. Conder, more affectionately known as Bob, was born on November 21, 1930 to Lonnie and Ina Conder. He was one of 5 brothers and 6 sisters. He graduated from Tech High School in 1949. He then joined the United States Air Force where he was a Staff Sergeant from 1951-1955. He married the love of his life, Mary January 19,1952 and they started their family and journey of life together.
He began his remarkable career at C&M Distributing here in Charlotte, NC. He went to CB Drug Company in Harrisburg, NC where he was President and CEO. Following that, he started KEYper Systems in 1992. He built a successful business which over the years employed his entire family. He retired in 2015 at the age of 85 and left his legacy to continue on.
Throughout his life, Bob made his family and friends his full time job. He and wife Mary traveled all over the world throughout their lives together. He planned many trips and left those memories in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of accompanying them. His love for his family was unwavering. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He “Lived till he died”, dressed to impress at all times. He made the absolute best of every situation amongst a hurdle with his health from time to time. Always full of positivity, generosity and a love of life that was magnetic. He also loved his church family, University City, UMC. He was very instrumental in building that church and was a dedicated member. He was an avid Hornets fan and was always very supportive of his grands and great grands sports dancing etc.
He is survived by his three children, Gary Conder, Marcia Ray (Tim) and Laurie Baucom (Steve); four grandchildren who adored him , Hope, Travis (Nicki), Kyle and Cameron; four great grandchildren who are better for having him touch their lives, Kendall, Cooper, Audrey and Easton; his Sister Mary “Bibbie” Wentz; many nieces and nephews. His wife of 57 years, Mary, preceded him in death in 2009.
The family will celebrate the life of their father, grandfather and great grandfather on Thursday, May 19 at his church, University City UMC.
Visitation from 11:30-1:00 and the service at 1:00. Burial following the service at Sharon Memorial.
