Robert Elmer Bedell

Bob was born March 29,1932, in Southampton, Long Island, New York. He was the oldest of two children born to Elmer E. and Marion Bennett Bedell. He graduated from the State University of New York Maritime College (SUNY) in 1954 with a BS degree in Marine Transportation. Bob served two years with the U.S. Naval Reserve during the Korean conflict. Ensign Bedell married Charlotte Oliver in June 1955 and in 1956 he returned to school to earn his BSEE and MSEE degrees. He retired from IBM after 32 years.

Bob was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Oliver Bedell. Survivors include his children; son Bob Bedell and wife Faye of Gallatin, Tennessee, daughter, Lori Bedell Berger and husband, The Honorable Gilbert Berger of Culpeper, Virginia, son, Lee Bedell and wife Dottie of Mint Hill, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Dan Bedell (Lindsay), Bob Bedell (Cheyenne), Jason Berger (Kimberly), and Charlie Bedell; 6 great grandchildren; sister Marjorie Bedell Miller of Hampton Bays, New York; 3 nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sardis Presbyterian Church, 6100 Sardis Road, Charlotte NC 28270.
