Richard Forest Smith, Sr., 83 of Charlotte passed away July 1, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center. A service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00AM Wednesday, July 3rd in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, Dr. Gerald Bearden officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn West Garden Mausoleum. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born February 12, 1930 in Lumberton, NC son of the late John and Hazel Glover Smith, served in the US Army during the Korean War and retired from the Colonial Stores after 31 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Joyce Kiser Smith, children, Richard Forest Smith, Jr. (Debbie) of Cornelius, NC, Karen Dudley (Ron) of Greenville, SC, Adrian Mull of Monroe, NC and Douglas Smith (Augusta) of Belmont, NC, ten Grand and five great grandchildren, and a sister, Ruby Williams (Eugene) of Charlotte.
