He was born November 16, 1963 in Charlotte, NC. He is survived by his father, R. Elbert Holt, Sr., sisters Cynthia Holt Adams and Lisa Holt Burns and her husband Bryan of Charlotte; and nephew Jason D. Burns and his fiancé, Dr. Alexa Richardson of Greensboro. He is also survived by his Aunt & Uncle, Billy and Trina Tyson of Monroe, NC, his cousin Bryan Tyson and his wife Kimberly and their five beautiful children Alice, Audrey, Adam, Trina & Mary of Charlotte, and also his cousin Dr. Julia Tyson of Boone, NC.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Jeannette Dennis Holt.
Rick graduated from Providence Day School where he loved playing football. He spent his life working with his father helping people with their insurance needs and was President of Insurance Brokers Services, Inc. Rick was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan and loved shooting pool with his friends. Rick was a wonderful man, smart and funny and always fun to be with. Rick was one who was always there if you were in need and was always willing to lend his help to friends and family.
A visitation for friends and family will be held at McEwen Funeral Service Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC, at 1:00 pm., Tuesday, June 30th. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm, after visitation at McEwen officiated by Pastor David Trammell. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Collings, Larry Fetner,Carl, Scavotto,Brandon Smith,Josh Springs and Bryan Tyson.
The family would especially like to thank the caring people, doctors and nurses of CMC University/Mercy, Novant Health, Charlotte ENT, Levine Cancer Institute, University Radiation Therapy Center and the staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. Also special thanks to the caregivers who were with Rick night and day through his journey, especially June Hartunian and Lorraine Perrot. And, thanks to the many friends and family who have so generously lent their support and lifted us up to the Lord in prayer during this time. Your love has not only been overwhelming but constantly felt and appreciated by our entire family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
