Rick was the poster child for what a "family man" is. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. I recall the days when our kids were young and Rick and I would go to the elementary school together to have lunch with our kids who were the same ages. Nothing but great memories and lots of laughs with Rick. Rick also inspired me often to keep the faith and praise God. I pray for Sandra, their children and grandchildren and all who were touched by this gentle, loving man. May he rest in peace and watch over his family and friends until we meet again.

I was so sad to hear of Rick’s passing .  Buddy & I  met Rick early on @ MtHarmony Baptist church years ago .  He was such a great guy & Buddy enjoyed seeing him  @ Services . He also was a friend ….He fought a good fight & always had great faith through it all…. I knew Ricky when he was at independence high school and when i work at Presbyterian hospital.

“Dr. Rick” as we knew him was very sweet and always smiling. He’d let my boys sit in his patrol car at the morning star storage years ago. He gave my husband advice and helped so many people. I love to read his  humorous posts but I looked forward to reading his Bible verses or the posts he’d make about Jesus or asking if the reader knew Jesus. What a beautiful witness and a sweet soul. My prayers are with his family and all who loved him.

Rick has always been a down to earth guy.  He was always fun to be around and loved his mom dearly.
You are finally together again with your mom and dad.

Earth lost a true devoted family, friend and love of Jesus guy indeed. May he be celebrating his new pain free life in Heaven. His wings will encircle his family as his faith spoke for itself. He saw me at NOVANT last summer while I was nervous waiting on an MRI prior to surgery. We prayed together and then he found my spouse and told him I was ok in the waiting room still.  He was a good person and met no strangers. Rest in peace Rick and may your family cherish their beautiful memories with you. 🙏🙏🙏

I’m writing this with a heavy heart to honor and remember Rick.   Rick was more than just my best friend’s dad; he was a remarkable man whose presence brought light and laughter into every room. His sense of humor and incredible wit were unparalleled, making every occasion we shared unforgettable.

I had the privilege of working alongside Rick for a year, installing floors, where we engaged in a constant, light-hearted battle to see who could embarrass the other the most. Those days were filled with laughter and joy, making the hard work seem like nothing. The memories I have from that time are among my favorites, a testament to the enjoyable atmosphere Rick created, no matter the situation.

Rick had a unique ability to make you forget all your troubles with just his laughter. His love for his children was fierce, and through his actions, he taught me invaluable lessons about work ethic, loyalty, and what it means to be a true man. His influence extended beyond just being a father to his own children; he was a great friend and a wonderful example to me.

Losing Rick is a profound loss, and the void left by his passing will be felt deeply by all who knew him. However, the lessons he taught us, the laughter he shared, and the love he spread will continue to live on in our hearts. Rick was a remarkable individual whose legacy will not be forgotten.

To my best friend and your family, I offer my deepest condolences. May we find comfort in the memories and the moments we were blessed to share with Rick. Let us remember him not just for the laughter he brought into our lives but for the incredible person he was - a devoted father, a hard worker, and a loyal friend.

Im truly sorry for your loss. Rick worked for me at MCPD for several years and i never worried when Rick responded with me because i always knew he had my back and i had his. In the early years we shared so many   Conversations. I guess the best way to describe Rick was balanced. He was the most genuine person always. If you knew Rick he was your eternal friend. Rest in peace my friend. One day we will do the handshake again.

Rick was the sweetest soul !!  Some of my best childhood memories are of all the family gatherings at Granny Sayers as a child on Sunday to eat dinner . Granny always fixed strawberry shortcake which was mine and Ricks favorite . She would leave  it sitting there so tempting but granny would tell us we would have to wait until after dinner for dessert. But Rick  would always go in and sneak me a little before dinner and  take the fussing from Granny .  To this  day when I eat strawberry shortcake I think of those days and how sweet they were . Heaven sure gained a great one . Sending lots of  love and prayers to all the family may you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Sandra I’m so sorry for your loss. I got to know Ricky when I started working with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff Office in 1993  he would alway keep you going with his jokes. Later I was with the Blue Knights and  did a lot of rides together with our brothers and sisters from other police agencies and then he always keep us laughing he will be miss but not forgotten. My prayers will be with you and the family thew these hard times. I will miss you brother!!!💙💙💙

Rick and I went to high school together and then worked together many years with CMPD. Rick in the field and me on the other end of the radio. We both knew that we each had each others back in every call I dispatched him to and he had my back. Love you brother!!!!

I met Rick when I was a crossing guard at HGES. He would run radar for me in the mornings. Loved talking with him and running into him around the east side . I once commented that he must know  everyone in Charlotte. He responded, "Cause I probably pulled half of them over!" I am very sorry for your loss.
