Mr. Byers, 91 of Charlotte NC passed away Friday February 7, 2025. He was born on August 22, 1933 in Gastonia NC to the late Charles Saul and Garey Hartsell Byers. He grew up in Shelby NC, graduating from Shelby High then went on to graduate from UNC Chapel Hill. Richard also proudly served his country in the US Army. The joy of Richard’s life was his family. He is survived by his step-daughter Jo Ann Caudle, North Myrtle Beach SC and granddaughter Tiffany Melton Smith, Charlotte, NC and his beloved great grand children. We will miss his bright light tremendously but know that we will all be united again.
A funeral service for Richard will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Ave, Charlotte, North Carolina.
