Ralph was born April 28, 1935, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, to the late Oscar Lee Callahan and Ester Key Callahan. He attended Hickory Grove and Oakhurst schools in Charlotte.
Early in his career, Ralph worked for Standard Chemicals and Lloyd Chair Company in Charlotte. He later worked with Callahan Upholstery Company in the Hickory Grove Community for approximately 40 years until his retirement.
Ralph enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernie E. Callahan and wife, Betty Sue, John W. Callahan, Roger L. Callahan, Larry Callahan, and Ronald E. Callahan.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Cordie M. Callahan of Charlotte; sons, Jeffrey Callahan and wife, Cindy, of Oakboro, North Carolina and Ralph T. Callahan, Jr. and wife, Anna, of Norwood, North Carolina; daughters, Audrey Martin and husband, Rob, of Bryson City, North Carolina and Sheila Howell and husband, Bruce, of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Ralph also leaves behind his brother, Gerald F. Callahan and wife, Helen, of Mint Hill; sisters-in-law, Betty Callahan of Mooresville, North Carolina and Shirley Callahan Lathe of Stanley, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:15 until 2:00 pm Thursday, February 1, 2024, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service following at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Kinny Wallace is officiating. Interment will follow in Oakboro Cemetery, Oakboro, North Carolina.
