Rae Anna Downey Patterson

Rae Anna Downey Patterson, 88, died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at home after a graceful battle with lung disease. Mrs. Patterson was born in High Point, N.C. on January 25, 1927, daughter of the late Ray E. and Deanna O. Downey. She attended old Central High School in Charlotte and Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She served as a bookkeeper for several Charlotte businesses before she retired to enjoy her grandchildren. She was a strong, courageous and funny woman who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Sheryl Rountree of Gastonia NC; daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and George Batson of Charlotte, NC; and seven grandchildren: Matthew Rountree, Suzanna Rountree, Stephanie Matysiak, Mariah Trombley, David Batson, Josh Batson and Noah Batson.

Family members who have preceded her in death include her parents; her sister, Jane Eddens; and two daughters, Deanna Jane and Rebecca Ann.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday evening at Harry & Bryant.

The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
