Phyllis Patton Vuncannon, age 78, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 due to complications that arose from surgery. She was born Phyllis Marie Patton in Charlotte, NC, daughter of William Benjamin Patton and Violet Hazeline Miller. Her daughter Kimberly Marie, and granddaughter, Jennifer Marie carry her name.
Phyllis lived her life with passion and positivity. The word "can't" was not in her vocabulary. Her smile was captivating, her Southern charm exuded grace and politeness, and her beauty inside and out always shone through. She loved her family and friends with all her heart, and was blessed to have friends from childhood until her final day. She was an avid sports fan and loved her Tar Heels and Carolina Panthers!
Phyllis was indeed a beauty queen, a cheerleader, a majorette in high school, and a force to be reckoned with in the corporate business and restaurant industries. She retired to Myrtle Beach, SC, with her husband Terry after selling their restaurant "Silo's" in Asheboro, NC. Phyllis graduated from Garinger High School in 1963 in Charlotte, NC, and obtained an Associates degree from UNC in Chapel Hill.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Scruggs Brinkman, her 3 grandchildren, Timothy Justin Nevius, Jennifer Marie Nevius, and Brandi Nevius Conant, 1 great grandson, Logan Ryker Nevius, and husband of 40 years, Terry Charles Vuncannon. She is also survived by her siblings; brothers, Larry Patton and Lewis Patton, and sister, Glenda Patton and beloved nieces and nephew, DeAnn Patton Crowe, Barbara Patton Custer and Erik Patton.
A service to celebrate Phyllis' life will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00am at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am.
