Peggy was a long-time resident of Charlotte, NC and a founding member of Ducan Methodist Church located on Caldwell St in Charlotte, NC. She and her husband Jim moved to Cornelius, NC to be with family in 2005. She enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing, needle point, knitting, ceramics, cooking, decorating, and taking care of her family. Every summer Peggy and her husband, Jim, would take the family to Kure Beach, NC. The past eight years she has enjoyed traveling to Oak Island, NC and sitting on the porch, visiting with friends and watching the wildlife. It was a special place for her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Shoemaker; sisters Frances Jaco, Joyce Boger; brothers Bill Black and Leo Black; daughter Kaye Lefler. She is survived by her son Larry and wife Anne Shoemaker; grandchildren Bradley Shoemaker, Matthew Shoemaker, Michael Shoemaker and Tiffany Macri; great grandson Brandon Macri.
A visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 beginning at 1:30pm. Funeral service will follow at 2pm. Interment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Atrium Hospice Cabarrus County.
