Paul passed away Monday April 17, 2017 at his home in Charlotte surrounded by his loving family. Born October 28 1958 in Charlotte he was the son of the late Thomas Earl Heffner Jr and Faith Owens Heffner. Following graduation at Fort Mill High School in 1977, he enlisted in the United States Military. Paul served in the Navy between 1980 and 1993 during that time he did a tour in the Persian Golf. Following his time in the service, he began his career with the United States Post Office.
Paul was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte, a church he was a part of with his family growing up. One thing that meant so much to him and was beautiful to witness was his coming back to the Lord and receiving His blessing. The joys of Paul’s life were his family and his love of sports. You were almost guaranteed to see him sporting St. Louis Cardinals, UNC Tar Heels or Carolina Panther gear. Paul adored his wife, the former Albertha Brown whom he married December 14, 1985. He was also a devoted father and grandfather. One of the things he loved the most was being involved in the lives of his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Albertha Heffner; his three children, Tonya Heffner Cassibry of Fort Mill SC, Paul Heffner Jr, and Tainecia Brown both of Charlotte NC; and his two beloved grandchildren Caleb Cassibry and Matthew Cassibry; as well as his stepmother Carolyn Heffner of Belmont NC; sister Karen Dumontet of Belmont NC; and his brothers Johnny Heffner of Santa Rosa CA, Michael Heffner of Myrtle Beach SC, James Heffner of Harrisburg NC, Roger Heffner of Jacksonville FL and stepbrother David Fiegelman of Charlotte NC. He was preceded in death by his brothers Stephen Heffner and Tom Heffner III. Paul left a lasting impression on everyone that knew and loved him, he will truly be missed. His family takes solace in knowing they will be reunited in heaven.
Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Home in Pineville on Thursday, April 20th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday April 21st at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 28209. Friends and family are welcome to attend a private interment with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery.
