Mr. Towell was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a Charlotte Policeman for 28 years and then as court security in Charlotte and Statesville for 15 years. He was also a member of Westford UMC in Concord, NC.
He is survived by his wife Dean, of 56 years; his daughter Kathy Philips and her husband Michael; brother Guy N. Towell and his wife Eleanore.
He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Onie Towell and Bernice Cook.
A visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 11am-1pm at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews- Mint Hill Rd in Mint Hill. A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel.
