Nancy States Nyilyk of Meadville, Pennsylvania and Charlotte, North Carolina went to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 18th, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Being an avid gardener, we all know that immediately after being welcomed into Heaven, Nancy started tending the Lord’s gardens for all who came before, and all are yet to come into His presence.
Nancy was born March 25, 1941, in Utica, Pennsylvania and eventually made her home in Meadville, Pennsylvania. For years she was a stay-at-home mom then worked for Coca Cola bottling. She then moved to her natural calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant on the Alzheimer’s unit at the Crawford County Care Center. Upon retiring, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to seek the warmth and sunshine that the good Lord provides to each of us.
While in Charlotte, Nancy became a member of Pineville United Methodist Church and immediately connected with many people she called dear friends. Stephen’s Ministry, the Visitation committee and sending cards to the congregation and their families were just a few of her commitments to her church. While she was devoted to her church her first loves were her daughters, grandchildren, and sons-in-law, whom she thought hung the moon. Her grandchildren as well as many others affectionately called her Mimi and Nam. Very few people could match her talents in growing beautiful plants and bringing seemingly dead ones back to life. Nancy’s green thumb was legendary and as a tribute, butterflies and hummingbirds seemed to follow her everywhere. Other hobbies included golfing, knitting, and attending all the activities of her grandchildren such as sports, school events or simply sitting in the carpool line. Nancy was an angel on this earth, and it shined through to all who crossed her path.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Kelly and husband Erich as well as her grandchild Hunter, her daughter Kathleen and husband Chip and her grandchildren States and Smith, as well as her sisters Rhonda and Gloria and many nieces and nephews. Her sister Pat and her parents Ron and Peg were in Heaven to greet her. She is also survived by too many friends to count.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pineville United Methodist Church.
