Nancy Lorena Baggett McCorkle

Nancy Baggett McCorkle, 97, of Charlotte, passed away at Huntersville Oaks in Huntersville on December 3, 2016. A native of Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Malcom Baggett and Eunice Fisher Baggett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Henry McCorkle. Her brother, Delwin Baggett, and two sisters, Virginia Pearre and Mildred Kirby, also preceded her in death. She graduated from Central High School. Mrs. McCorkle was a member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church. She retired from Charlotte Memorial Hospital, now Carolinas Medical Center. Mrs. McCorkle never wanted to be fussed over (except for the occasional request for a ham biscuit) and was "sweet as pie".

Surviving Mrs. McCorkle is her daughter, Terry Beaty and husband Alan of Stanley, and her son, Larry McCorkle and wife Pat of Weddington. A sister, Mary Kirby, of Columbia, SC survives her, along with six grandchildren, Gina Caskey, Rebecca Tweed, Blaire McCorkle, Kelsey Johnson, Gregory Beaty and Thomas McCorkle. Nine great-grandchildren also survive her.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. A Graveside Service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Tom Steagald officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church, 501 Hawthorne Ln, Charlotte, NC 28204 or to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
