Nancy Elizabeth Bockoven

Nancy Elizabeth Rivers Bockoven, age 76, of Ormond Beach FL, was called home in the early hours of Monday, November 28, 2022, where she is reunited with her husband of 12 years, James F. Bockoven. She is survived by her sister Suzanne Rivers Williams of Charlotte NC; brother James Michael Rivers and wife Kate of Stuart FL; sister Candice Rivers Bukky and husband Theodore of Chardon OH; 6 nephews/grand-/great-nephews, 6 nieces/grand-/great-nieces, and large Bockoven step-family.

Born to James Wilson and Mary Altman Rivers on September 19, 1946 in Miami, Florida, Nancy attended Forest Hill Community High School in Palm Beach FL and was an avid Florida Seminoles fan. Nancy passed in Charlotte NC under the care of family, Summit Place, and hospice, but spent most of her life in Florida; Miami, West Palm, Daytona, Crystal River, Tallahassee, and Ormond Beach. She spent her career as a financial officer in the Florida education system, retiring in Tallahassee as Bureau Chief for all non-instructional personnel in Florida’s K-12 public schools. The love of her life, Jim Bockoven, swept her away to Ormond Beach, where they married in 2007.

Nancy loved to meet people, cook, entertain, and create. She loved to take cooking classes (and sometimes taught them) and spent part of her retirement as a personal chef and caterer. She loved collecting art from her travels, and especially enjoyed cruises. Nancy was a kind, loving, and devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, step-mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, and friend. She was a collector of all things dragonfly.

Nancy's life will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21st in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service - Pineville, 10500 Park Road in Charlotte. Her family will receive friends following the service.
