Mozelle P. Smith

Mrs. Mozelle P. Smith (Moe Moe), 85, of Charlotte, NC died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at her residence. Mozelle was born September 1, 1925 in Oxford, NC. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Shields and Ola Wilkinson Parham.

She was a graduate of Watts Hospital Nursing School, Durham, NC and was a Registered Nurse. Mozelle was appointed the first ever public health nurse for the Public Health Department of Bluefield, WV. She was an avid gardener, bridge player, and golfer. She was particularly proud of her hole-in-one.

Mozelle was a long time member of Park Road Baptist Church and she will be greatly missed by all of her friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hubert L Smith. Mozelle is survived by her children, Anglyn R. Smith of Charlotte, NC, a son Marc L. and Christine A Smith of Sterling, MA, and Bryn E. Smith of Durham, NC; two grandchildren, Nicole Smith-Morgan and Colin P. Smith; two sisters, Mrs. Annice Bolen of Pickens, SC and Mrs. Shields Jones of Hillsborough, NC.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Linda Brooks (Rosie) and Deborah Cousins (Bushels), who took loving care of her and her family since the passing of Hubert.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Park Road Baptist Church with Rev. Amy Jacks Dean and Rev. Russ Dean officiating. A reception will follow after the service where the family will receive friends.
