Mr. Morris Aguilar Lawrence, age 77, husband of Mrs. Louise Lawrence since May 2, 1985, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on October 2, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Atrium Health Pineville Hospital, located at 10628 Park Road, Charlotte, NC, after a lengthy illness with cancer and with family by his side.
Morris was born on December 14,1946, in Alexandria, St. Ann Jamaica to the late parents’ Sydney Moore Lawrence and Ethlyn May Grant, previously residing in Alexandria, Jamaica. He graduated from High School in Alexandria, Jamaica and acquired vocational certifications. He was an entrepreneur, certified locksmith, and real estate properties manager for IAC properties for 20 years in Charlotte, North Carolina before retiring in 2021.He served in the Church of the Living God in Brooklyn, NY as a Deacon. He also sang and played the guitar in the church.
He was a lifelong resident of Kingston, Jamaica until he migrated to the United States of America and married Louise Lawrence. They made their home in Brooklyn, New York. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with family. A lighthearted man, of strong convictions and beliefs, a strong personality and highly disciplined. He had a loving nature and a profound sense of humor.
Morris was a talented craftsman, who loved antique furniture and was well versed in furniture design, construction and delivered a quality finished product. His ability to refurbish antique furniture to its former glory was impeccable. He was a talented musician, loved music, singing, and playing the guitar. He was an early riser, lover of nature, and spent time tending to his home, garden, and taking care of his cats. He also dedicated his resources to charitable services and volunteered at local organizations. He will be most remembered for his love of his wife, family, and his generosity. Morris was always ready to lend a hand and provide support to anyone in need. He showed care and love to his residential community and loved his neighbors. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Louise Lawrence, Morris is survived by and will be dearly missed, by:

• His stepsons, Alvin Forte of Brooklyn, NY and Dwayne Forte of Charlotte,NC.
• His grandchildren, Anthony McDonald Lawrence of Charlotte, NC, Princess Elaine Sutherland of Charlotte, NC, Deandre Hugh Lawrence of Opa-locka, FL, Ashley Teara McClymont of Charlotte, NC, Jada Lawrence of Irvington, NJ, Caleb Baptista of Charlotte, NC, Imani Lawrence of Irvington, NJ, Chad Lawrence and Sean Lawrence of Hartford, CT, and Tamonie Lawrence of Cleveland, OH.

Visitation will begin on October 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the McEwen Funeral Home located at 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. Funeral Services will begin on October 21, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and will be held at the McEwen Funeral Chapel located at 10500 Park Road,
Charlotte, NC 28210. The burial will immediately follow the Funeral Services at the family plot at Sharon Memorial Park, located at 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Family members will leave by procession from the McEwen Funeral Chapel to Sharon Memorial Park led by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.
