Mildred Florence Watson, passed away on October 1, 2015 at her residence. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Furman Hague Watson and Donnie Bell Alexander Watson. She was a member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church. She worked in Ladies Retail from the age of 21 until the age of 80. She began her career working for Ed Mellon Co. in Charlotte, both as a retail associate and as a buyer. She also worked at The Carriage on Providence as a Bridal Consultant and as a Buyer, and at The Carriage in the Specialty Shops at Southpark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Paul Watson; a nephew, Marcus Paul Watson; and a sister-in-law, Helen Philmon Watson. She is survived by two nieces, Vicki Watson Koch of Charlotte and Carol Watson Denton and her husband Randy of Wendell, NC; by a great niece, Tamara Koch of Columbus, Ohio; by a great nephew, Dennis Koch of Charlotte; by another great niece, Jamee’ Melvin and her husband David of Emerald Isle, NC; and by a great-great nephew, Hunter Melvin of Emerald Isle.
A memorial service will be held at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church on Sunday, October, 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Tom Steagald officiating. The family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
