Mary Elizabeth Trimble

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McDougal Trimble, of Charlotte, NC died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center after complications from a head injury. She was born Sept. 21, 1933 in Nashville Tennessee. She grew up in Oak Ridge Tennessee and worked for the Atomic Energy Commission before attending Berea College in Berea Kentucky. Being an accomplished multi-sport athlete herself, it is there that she met and married another accomplished athlete Ed Trimble on Jan. 1, 1954. After a few years in Alaska and Chattanooga, Tenn., Ed and Mary settled in Charlotte in 1967.

Mary was a wonderful person, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She touched many lives with her never-ending talents and her knack for always remembering everyone's birthday and special occasions. She was an avid reader, bridge player, seamstress and excellent cook. As a member of Carmel Country Club she was once an avid golfer and even accomplished a hole in one. She was always proudly in attendance at her children's and grandchildren's events from cheerleading, to music, to sports.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ed Trimble; daughter Connie Trimble DeBerry and son-in-law Buddy DeBerry; daughter Kim Trimble Hall; Grandson Edwin Breck Stack; and Grandaughter Kasey Elizabeth Stack.

She was preceded in death by her mother Grace Combs and stepfather George Combs of Tennessee.

The family will receive friends Wednesday Sept. 5th from 6 pm - 8 pm at McEwen Funeral Services, Pineville Chapel,10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday Sept. 6th at Sharon Memorial Cemetery, Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC.

The family would like to thank all of her friends for enriching her life. Thank you also to the Doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Carolinas Medical Center for their dedicated care.
