Kathy aka Miss Kat ...age 77, of Indian Land, SC went home to be with her Lord and her Stratton on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Kathy was born July 5, 1944 to the late Eugene Helms and Mary Doris McCain Helms in Charlotte, NC.
Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, William E. Helms, and her grandson, Stratton Ellis Banks Stubbs whom she now embraces in Heaven.
Kathy retired from Metrolina Intergroup, where she witnessed to many and loved all. Kathy was genuinely caring and modestly kind. She shared many life lessons with others and was an inspiration to those around her. And, she was always right…even down to the day she passed. She said on Friday April 29 that she was going home on Sunday. Momma always knew! While her legacy lives on in many, her bright smile, open arms, and loving ways will truly be missed.
She is survived by her ‘live in lover’ Jim McKeithan of Indian Land, SC; her two daughters Cindy Carlone and husband Vinnie of Calabash NC, Paige Norwood and husband Matt of Waxhaw NC; grandchildren McCain Carlone of Calabash NC, Peyton Boles of Charlotte NC, Emma Norwood of Waxhaw NC, Presson Norwood and fiancée Kimberleigh Garera of Durham NC, Matti Chandler and husband Brandon of Winston Salem NC, Hali Chase and husband Josh of Gainesville, GA, DJ McKeithan of Rock Hill SC, Brandon McKeithan and wife Alex of Rock Hill SC; great grandchildren Christian Chase, Jack Chandler, and Eli McKeithan, and awaiting the arrival of little Miss Harper Chase expected this month. Kathy is also survived by her furry companions, Grace and Strat Lady.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice of Rock Hill SC, Denise Hoff (RN), Aneitra Wylie (Hospice Aide), Kanisha Harrison (Social Worker), Cathy Enabenter (RN on call), Tracey Julius (Social Worker) and Nate Cline (Chaplain).
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at the McEwen Funeral Service Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC on Saturday, May 7 at 10 am. A graveside service will be held immediately following the Chapel service.
All are welcome to visit with family members after the graveside. The Rev. Renee Leboa will be officiating the service.
Bearing the casket will be Peyton Boles, McCain Carlone, David Helms, Brandon McKeithan, DJ McKeithan, and Presson Norwood.
