Mary "Bethie" Turner Shaia

Beth is survived by her 2 sons: Dr. Daniel William Turner and his wife Debbie and Jeffrey Paul Turner and his wife Kathy Gorton - Grandchildren Zach Turner (Julie) Brandon Turner, and Christopher Turner (Brooke), 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and Shaia family members.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Daniel William Turner Sr. and second husband Dr. William Shaia, parents William and Blanche Haynes McDonough of Richmond, VA, and grand-daughter Jennifer Ashley Turner Seymour. She was the last of 11 children.

Beth was born October of 1927 in Richmond, VA. She met William (Bill) Turner at a dance for the military. It was love at first site for Bill, and the two were finally married.

When Bill tragically passed in 1976, Beth took a job at Miller Clinic where she eventually met Dr. Bill Shaia. Bill courted Beth for years and the two finally married.

Family meant everything to Beth. Her bookcases were filled with family photos. She loved telling stories of growing up in Richmond, eating Momma’s fried bread on the porch with friends after church and her dog Brownie. She was always planning a ‘get-together’.

Bethie had an unwavering staunch faith in the Lord which sustained her to the end of her earthly life.

Viewing will be at 10 am Thursday in the Narthex at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211 followed by an 11 am funeral mass.

The family would like to thank Lisa and Carol for the friendship and care they gave Beth over the years.
