Mrs. Phillips, age 85, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Plantation Estates. Born October 21, 1927 in Charlotte, she was the daughter of the late Walter Yandle Nisbet and Mildred Jackson Nisbet. Following graduation from Central High School, she earned an Associate Degree in Business from Queens University. Mrs. Phillips retired as secretary-treasurer of Milt Phillips and Associates. She was a member of Plaza Presbyterian Church where she was a charter member of the Covenant Sunday School Class, an Elder, a choir member, a Circle member and a Sunday School Class teacher. Mrs. Phillips was an Honorary Member and Past Moderator
of the Presbyterian Women.
The memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Jane Nisbet Phillips will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 11th at Plaza Presbyterian Church with Reverend Tom Tate, officiating. Members of the Covenant Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Interment will be private.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Milton Phillips, Jr. and his wife, Cathy and Walter Frank Phillips; and four grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Phillips, Lesley Anne Phillips Allen, Matthew Alexander Phillips and Thomas Matthew Phillips. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Milton Phillips, Sr.; a son, David Wayne Phillips; and a brother, Walter Jackson Nisbet.
