Jean McCoy of Pineville, NC passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 21, 2011 surrounded by her family. To honor jean’s request, a graveside service officiated by Rev. Lee Davis, Rev. Bruce League and Rev. Steve All, will be held to celebrate her life on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery, 5400 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212. Being the unique person she was, Jean wants this service to be a happy occasion.
Jean was born, August 4, 1933 in Pineville, NC. She was the daughter of the late James and Rhetta Mae McCoy. She was in the first graduating class of East Mecklenburg High School in 1951; then went on to receive a degree from Kings Business College. After graduating, she then went on to work for over 30 years at Textile Mill Supply - now Industrial and Textile Supply.
Jean was a lifelong member of Stough Memorial Baptist Church where she taught 6 year old Sunday School Class for 44 years and also directed the children’s speeches for the Christmas Eve program for many years.
Cooking was a hobby of Jean’s where she was recognized numerous times in the Charlotte News (which merged with the Charlotte Observer) for her submission of recipes and winning many cooking contest entries.
Jean is survived by her sisters, Joyce McCoy White and Anarah M. Jones of Pineville; brothers Jimmy McCoy (Debbie) of Chester, SC and Mickey McCoy (Kitty) of Pineville; 3 nieces, 1 nephew and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
