Mary Thelma Luckie

Mrs. Luckie, 93, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, due to a stroke.

She was born April 17, 1919 in Andalusia, AL, and spent most of her life in Mobile, AL and Charlotte, NC. In Charlotte, she was an active member in Hickory Grove Baptist Church. After moving with her husband to Lakeland, FL in 2001, she became active at Shepherd Road Presbyterian Church.

Thelma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Elvin Allen Luckie, Sr., of 63 years. She is survived by her sons: Elvin A. (Sonny) (Maxine) Luckie, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; Don (Marianne) Luckie of Lakeland, FL and her daughter, Debbie (Jim) Hollingsworth of Fort Mill, SC. Thelma was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Her life was a shining example of love and giving from the heart to everyone who knew her.

The Lukie family will greet friends 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial. A celebration of Thelma’s life will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel with The Reverend Henry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
