Mary Margaret was born in Hamlet, North Carolina, in 1961. She was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and was a hard worker who loved her family immensely. Mary Margaret was extremely proud of her daughter, Christi, and her granddaughter, Catie was the light of her life. She loved to be outside in nature. Camping and white water rafting were two of her favorite activities. Mary Margaret was an avid reader and traveler who especially loved the beach, dancing, and listening to blues music.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Marie Allen, her son-in-law, Richard Allen, and granddaughter, Catherine Mae Allen, of Broadway, North Carolina; her parents, Walter Mitchell and Mary Alice Long of Mint Hill, North Carolina; her sister, Catherine Long Stout and husband, Steven Marshall Stout, and nephew, Shane Walter Stout, all of Indian Trail, North Carolina, and nephew, Courtland Stout of Raleigh, North Carolina; her brother, Mitch Long, and nephew, Adam Lovelace, both of Greensboro, North Carolina; and nieces, Stephanie Long and Shannon Long, both of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The family would like to thank the staff of Royal Park and Liberty Hospice Services for caring for her so well over the last month.
A service to celebrate the life of Mary Margaret will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday, June 17, 2020, in the Worship Center at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Harrill and the Rev. Arnold Kessler officiating. Because of State Orders due to COVID-19, Social Distancing will be observed. Interment will follow in Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet, North Carolina. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 7:00 until 8:30 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel.
