Born to the late James and Dollie Crook on December 10, 1927 in Mecklenburg County, Mary graduated from Harding High School. She went on to marry John Jordan and they soon became parents to Ken and Teresa. She was a proud charter member of The Vine United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
Mary dearly loved God first, her church and family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attended their activities whenever possible. She loved cooking big family meals with John, traveling and square dancing. Mary also loved shopping and eating out.
A favorite tradition was baking Christmas cookies and sharing all her sweet goodies with family and neighbors.
Simply put, Mary loved life and all it had to offer. She had such a kind heart and treasured the friendships she made along the way. Mary always told her family that ‘she loved them’ and ‘to be careful’. She was so very proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories.
Her beloved parents, adoring husband John and her loving brother Reid Crook, precede Mary in death. Left to cherish her memory are her children Ken (Elizabeth) of Winston-Salem and Teresa (Doug) Morgan of Charlotte; granddaughters Heather Jordan, Emily Jordan and Kristen (Clint) Riddle along with her three precious grandsons.
A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1pm at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Mary’s caregivers Beverly Reasor, Charlene Stevens and Jeanette Mezuma for all the love and devotion they extended to Mary. Their affection will always be remembered and appreciated.
