Mary Huggins

Mrs. Mary Ross Alexander Huggins, Age 95 of Charlotte, died December 16, 2013, at her granddaughter’s residence. She was born October 31, 1918, in Statesville, NC. Mrs. Huggins retired with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System as a cafeteria manager. She loved cooking, watching tennis, working crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. She finally agreed to give up her car keys at age 89. She dedicated her entire life to caring for her family and they will forever be grateful for the sacrifices she made throughout her own life for them. Mrs. Huggins’ true heart’s desire was for her family to be happy. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Huggins was preceded in death by Magnus Samuel Huggins, her husband of 63 years, her daughter, Jane Blanchette, and brothers, Bill and George Alexander.

Surviving are her son, Ross Huggins and wife Linda of Florence, SC, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren, and her sister Katherine Noel.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC, on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2:00PM.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Boulevard, Monroe, NC, 28110, or Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3816 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
