Ann was born in Carthage, NC to Charles S. Turner and Gladys Elaine Hobbs in 1939. She was the second of three children, with her older brother Charles David and younger brother George.
Growing up in Fayetteville, NC, she got an early start building a family of her own, having her first son at age 17, with 3 more boys in the following years. She worked two jobs most of her younger life to provide for her boys. After moving to Charlotte, she married John Thomas “Tommy” Hawley in 1974. They had a 5th son, and she spent her later years dedicated to taking care of her family and their home. She lost Tommy in 2013, and spent the majority of her final years in a difficult battle with COPD. In the end, Ann passed peacefully in her sleep in the home she dedicated her life to.
Now, finally reunited with her husband and love of her life, she is survived by her brothers; her 5 sons, Mitch (Carolyn), Danny, Jimmy (Sue), Terry (Laura), and Robert (Ashlee); 11 Grandchildren; and 14 Great-Grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the countless medical providers and staff who cared for Ann, specifically Dr Larry Berman MD, the Pulmonary Care Department at Atrium Pineville, and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
Memorial services will be held at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Dr, Charlotte, NC 28278, on Friday, December 17th, 2021 with the visitation beginning at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made in memory of Tom & Ann Hawley to the United Service Organization (USO) by mailing a check or money order made payable to "USO" to USO Department WS, PO Box 96860, Washington, DC 20090, or by visiting their website at USO.org.
