Mary Rebecca Nolan Grant

Becky, age 72, of Charlotte, entered the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Born July 11, 1940 in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Leroy Conway Nolan and Lillie Mae Dixon Nolan. Mrs. Grant was a homemaker and cared for children in her home for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Steve; two children, Kevin Grant of Concord and Stephanie Hunter of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Brittney Cope and Justin Morrison, both of Charlotte; a brother, Marvin Nolan and his wife, Joanne of Ohio; a special brother-in-law, Tom Ottaway of Midland; and a special sister-in-law, Anne Nolan Pagans of Moneta, VA. Becky provided special care and devotion to her late brother’s children, Terri Robertson of Moneta, VA, Leanne Nolan of Roanoke, VA and David Nolan of Salem, VA. Becky spread her love among many close friends, including Edith Tucker of Monroe, "other son" Tim Campbell of Concord and Sandra Adams of Charlotte. In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her step mother, Mary Nolan and six siblings. Three sisters who were especially close to Becky, stepped into eternity in 2012, Flonnie James of Charlotte, Nancy Otttaway of Midland (whom she will laid to rest beside of) and Etta Dulin and her husband, Aaron, of Charlotte. Three brothers also preceded Becky in death, Lonnie Nolan of Virginia, and Billy Nolan and Jerry Nolan, both of Charlotte.

Becky knew and relied on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She often shared a favorite scripture, Joshua1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The service to celebrate Becky’s life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at Sunset Memory Gardens with Reverend Tim Lichtley, officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service.
